Simple Side Dish: Broccolini with Hazelnuts

Three ingredients to this simple but standout side dish. Broccolini with Hazelnuts delivers taste, texture and nutrition.

Fiber-rich broccolini is high in vitamin C and minerals like calcium and potassium. Hazelnuts are a rich source of protein, vitamin E, folate, B vitamins, and arginine. Although algae oil might not be the most common ingredient in someone’s pantry, I’d encourage you to try it! Algae oil is neutral, light, and slightly buttery with a very high smoke point. I buy mine at Thrive Market.

Together, these ingredients come together in a fat, fiber, and greens-rich dish. That’s three out of four components of the Fab Four. The Fab Four – protein, fat, fiber and greens – is my lightly-structured formula for ensuring optimal blood sugar balance at every meal. All you need to do is add a clean protein to this side to complete your balanced meal.

Some of my favorite proteins include Paleo Homemade Meatballs, 20 Minute Pork Tenderloin, Lemon and Garlic Whole Chicken, Fab Four Chicken Tenders, or Mississippi Pot Roast. Looking for other simple but balanced sides? Try my asparagus or cauliflower mash!
