Mean Matcha Fab Four Smoothie

My Mean Matcha Fab Four Smoothie combines two of my favorite morning sips – a matcha and a smoothie!

But this smoothie is so much healthier than store bought matcha lattes with all of their gum and seed oil-containing nut milks. And it’s so much better than store bought smoothies with all of their added sugars and lack of healthy fat, fiber and protein.

I want to highlight each ingredient because there’s not a bad one in the mix:

  • Be Well by Kelly protein powder is my minimal-ingredient protein powder that uses a non-chemical extraction process to deliver the cleanest, safest protein. It is subtly sweetened with monk fruit, which has no effect on blood sugar. It’s the only protein powder I give my kids; that’s how confident I am in it!
  • MCT oil provides healthy fats that nourish the brain and body. MCT oil fights bad bacteria and yeast in the digestive tract that can cause inflammation. It is easily digested, promotes fat burning and increases energy. 
  • Chia seeds provide healthy fat, including brain-boosting omega 3’s, and fiber. The fiber from chia seeds promotes regularity and feeds the “good” bugs in the gut. 
  • Spinach is high in vitamin C and rich in minerals like magnesium and potassium. It provides as added boost of fiber as well as antioxidant power. 
  • Matcha powder contains inflammation and cancer-fighting antioxidants including EGCG. It is also a source of vitamin C, chromium, magnesium, selenium and zinc. With less caffeine than coffee, it also contains L-Theanine, which is calming to the brain. If you’re someone who gets the jitters easily but still wants a little caffeine, matcha is a great way to go. The combination of protein, fat, fiber and greens makes it a complete Fab Four smoothie. This means it’ll nourish your body and balance your blood sugar, leaving you full, calm and energized for hours.
