Fab 4 x WeNatal Smoothie to Help Boost Fertility

Together with my friends at WeNatal, we’re blending up a delicious smoothie to support egg quality and boost fertility!

Here’s the great news, it doesn’t have to be complicated. Minimal, high quality ingredients are your best bet to enhancing fertility – whether through supplement or smoothie form.

I’m looking for powerful ingredients that promote hormone balance to boost fertility. The Fab Four – protein, fat, fiber and greens – will calm hunger hormones while providing the necessary building blocks for healthy sex hormone function and optimal egg quality.

Protein:

  • Proteins are the building blocks of literally everything in the body – hormones, neurotransmitters, and every single cell including…eggs! Protein is also important for blood sugar balance, which is crucial when trying to conceive.

Fat:

  • Research shows omega-3s help improve hormones, ovulation, egg and sperm health, all of which aid in improving your fertility (source). Healthy fats, including omega-3s and DHA, are also very important for fetal brain and eye development. It’s optimal to build up your stores before becoming pregnant.

Fiber and Greens:

  • Fiber and greens are beneficial for blood sugar balance and microbiome health. 
  • Fiber, such as chia seeds, acacia fiber, flaxseed, or psyllium husk, elongate the blood sugar curve, aiding in blood sugar balance. It’s also beneficial for regular bowel movement, which helps keep hormones balanced. Berries, which provide added fiber, are also antioxidant powerhouses. This means they’re anti-inflammatory and effective at reducing free radicals, which can be damaging to egg and sperm health.

  • 1/4 avocado
  • 1-1.5 cups walnut milk

+Fiber

  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1/4 cup blueberries

+Greens

  • Small handful of spinach
  • Small handful of baby kale

Ingredients

Optional Toppings:

  • 1 tbsp coconut yogurt
  • 1 tsp moringa powder

Directions

  1. Place all ingredients into a high-powered blender. Blend to desired consistency.
  2. Add coconut yogurt and moringa powder to your glass.
  3. Pour smoothie into your glass, and enjoy!
