Sometimes I have clients who can’t or don’t want nuts and seeds in their Fab Four Smoothie, so I wanted to showcase how easy it is to make a nut/seed free smoothie with minimal ingredients.
It’s not dogmatic. The Fab Four Method is a tool you can personalize for your own specific needs so that you can include the things you love. I.e. your favorite protein, your favorite fat source, your fiber preferences, with or without fruit? It’s all up to you!
It’s a simple to follow formula to help you get protein, fat, fiber and greens in which in turn helps you build a blood sugar balancing smoothie.
- For protein → choose one with minimal ingredients that offers a complete amino acid profile and a minimum of 20 grams of protein to increase satiety.
- For fats → opt for whole food sources with unsaturated fats, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, to slow the digestion process and help absorb fat-soluble vitamins.
- For fiber → look for soluble fiber sources which dissolve in water to form a gel-like consistency, help thicken Fab Four Smoothies and lower glucose levels.
- For greens → choose low starchy vegetables that are deep in color which provide antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, along with important vitamins and minerals to support whole body health.
With my Vanilla Chocho Bean protein powder (20g protein + 8g fiber), an avocado (15g fat + 5 g fiber), spinach and water you’re getting ALL OF the Fab Four to feel full and nourished…and with 1/2 of a small banana this is the thickest creamiest most decadent smoothie I’ve had in a while!
