When you’re sick, you want to feel better fast and you probably aren’t thinking about whether your medicine is clean or not. You’ll take what you can get if it promises to ease your symptoms. And because over the counter medicine has always been a take it or leave it kind of thing, you may not have even considered that there are cleaner options out there.
If that’s the case, I want to introduce you to clean options so you can avoid artificial dyes, flavors, preservatives, and inactive ingredients. Options for your whole family!
For Adults
Though you reach for medication to alleviate your symptoms, it can sometimes leave you feeling worse in different ways. Many over the counter (OTC) medicines can cause side effects like dizziness, nausea, drowsiness, or digestive issues. This is often because of those artificial and inactive ingredients, as well as common allergens - in short, the things you’d normally avoid otherwise. Fortunately, there are several brands that make it easier to makeover your medicine cabinet. Here are a few great changes to make:
-
Replace your Advil (or pain reliever) with Genexa's Pain Medication
-
Trade Tums for Genexa's Antacid
-
Swap Theraflu for Genexa's Flu Fix
-
Choose a better cough syrup like Beekeepers Natural’s B. Soothed Cough Syrup
-
Trade in your Throat Spray and try TheraZinc Spray
-
For better sleep, I recommend (and personally use) MBG magnesium+ (use the code KELLY10 for 10% off your first order)
-
For Saline Care I choose NeilMed's Nasal Rinse Kit
-
For cleaner, better for you Allergy Medication, try Genexa's Allergy-D Decongestant
-
For immune support, I use Elderberry & Zinc lozenges from NOW Foods.
For Infants & Kids
Unfortunately, children’s medication can also be full of sugar and additives. This is where Genexa, a brand I’m so thankful for comes in. The cofounders of Genexa are both dads, and they realize the importance of providing kids with medication that works, as well as keeping things like added sugar, dyes, artificial ingredients and common allergens out of the picture. Their kids’ medicine also contains the same active ingredients as leading brands, so you can trust them to be clean, good for your littles, and effective at helping them feel their best.
-
Trade the Infant Tylenol for Genexa's Kids' Acetaminophen
-
Swap the sugar-filled cough syrup with Genexa's Kids’ Honey Cough Syrup
-
Replace your Cold & Flu meds with Genexa's Cold Crush for Kids
-
My favorite Vitamin D is Genexa's Vitamin D3 for Children
-
A great Claritin alternative for kids is Genexa's Kids’ Allergy
-
For Gas and Tummy support try Genexa's Kids’ Tummy Relief
-
For Saline Care, Genexa's Saline Care Nasal or Saline Care for Infants

Restocking medicines is probably not the most exciting thing you’ll do during the holiday season, but I hope this gives you some guidance as to what to replace first and how to create a medicine cabinet that is clean and healthy for your entire family. My friends at Genexa know it’s a big to-do and want to help. Use the code BEWELL for 20% off as you clean out your medicine cabinet.
