Jen has always loved organizing and creating systems. She started out as a celebrity executive assistant, where she mastered the art of to-do lists, time management, and efficient systems. In the process, she realized that organizing truly was about transforming lives for the better. Jen's approach to home organizing involves a 5 step process: start with removing everything, sort items by categories, discard and donate what you no longer want or need, implement organizational systems, and maintain your systems
Establishing "zones" for different categories helps solidify keeping items together in the same area, and containing them to a designated area
Function and aesthetics are both taken into account, keep a "back stock" of key items that you use the most and restock the designated bins/containers from the back stock when needed
Jen breaks her personal tidying and organization into 20 minutes a day for key areas and clearing hard surfaces, and a longer 2 hour weekend block to clean, restock the house, and do laundry
Jen supports "connection over collection" and she uses this philosophy to help prioritize items to keep versus hanging onto excess items
The "one year" trick is a tip for evaluating when to get rid of something, if you haven't used it in a year, it's probably time to say goodbye
Establish command centers in your home to keep key items you use daily in a handy and organized system
